The LCRC convention was yesterday and it was a very successful convention. We will have a very strong ticket in November and there are some great candidates this year.

Besides finding out who won the primary nominations, the best part was EW Jackson's speech. Nobody knows much about him, he kind of came out of nowhere. But his speech touched everybody in a way nobody elses speech did. I am now very interested in him and will be following his campaign from here on out (I believe he is running for Senate.).

A part of his speech was recorded, thankfully, and posted on YouTube. I am unsure if anybody captured my favorite parts, but at least you can get a taste of his genius speech.

A Coyboy Named Bud

I received the following email from my brother. This joke has been floating the net for a while but I think it's the first time I have encountered it. Enjoy!

A cowboy named Bud was overseeing his herd in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced toward him out of a cloud of dust.

The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, RayBan sunglasses and YSL tie, leaned out the window and asked the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, Will you give me a calf?"

Bud looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure, Why not?"

The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his Cingular RAZR V3 cell phone, and surfs to a NASApage on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.

The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg , Germany .

Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored.

He then accesses an MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response.

Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer, turns to the cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves."

"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves," says Bud.

He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on with amusement as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.

Then Bud says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my calf?"

The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"

"You're an aide in the Obama Administration", says Bud.

"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"

"No guessing required." answered the cowboy. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You used millions of dollars worth of equipment trying to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you don't know a thing about how working people make a living - or about cows, for that matter. This is a herd of sheep.

Now give me back my dog.

Another Dirty Move By The Dems?

I am going to start writing a bit more about local level politics in my area because it interests me a bit and because it is going to be a crazy election year for the county I am in.

For the past while, the board has been dealing with redistricting. The county is growing extremely fast and some districts were getting too big. From the beginning everybody knew this would be a "fun" issue and that it has the potential to get dirty.

A couple nights ago the board finally chose a plan. The problem is that the plan doesn't make sense. Before I go on, I will let the Chairman of the Board explain:

Dear Friends,

As you may be aware, the Board of Supervisors adopted a redistricting plan during our business meeting yesterday. The plan adopted was Miller 5 that was slightly amended. You may see the unofficial version of this map here. Also posted is the map of the election boundaries that the new map will replace. Voting for the new districts were Burton, Kurtz, Buckley, McGimsey and Burk.

I did not support this plan as it was put together and pushed by one of Loudoun’s political parties. The eastern districts were gerrymandered and make absolutely no sense. We setup a process that invited all to participate and many citizens came together and formed a map that geographically did a much better job of keeping communities together and was much more logical. I want to thank those citizens for all their efforts. So much more intelligent was the citizen’s plan that even Stevens Miller, the supervisor that sponsored the so called Miller 5 plan, attempted to remove his name from it, but his motioned failed 4-5. Miller then put forth the question of the afternoon to those Supervisors pushing the Miller 5 plan, asking, “If you are so proud of this plan, then why don’t you put your name on it?”

This plan was put into place by Democrats and one lone Independent who clearly did not have the needs of the County in mind. Maybe they know their chances of being reelected are slim at this time and are probably just trying to go down in some weird twisted glory. Or maybe they know something I don't, and Gerrymandering* the districts will actually work. At a time when every county, city, and state should be trying to save money, they put in a plan that will force the electoral board to spend more money maning more voting locations. And that doesn't even include all the time that will be spend dealing with this mess.

I can't wait for the day when the majority of the Board knows that doing what is right for the county is more important than special interests. Not sure that day will ever come. At the very least, just have pitty on us a little bit and don't raise taxes again. I don't care if our kids need more electronic white boards in their classes. NO MORE TAX INCREASES.

*In case you don't know what Gerrymandering means the definition from Dictionary.com is as follows: The dividing of a state, county, etc., into election districts so as to give one political party a majority in many districts while concentrating the voting strength of the other party into as few districts as possible.

Gerrymander is named after E. Gerry (governor of Massachusetts, whose party redistricted the state in 1812) + (sala)mander, from the fancied resemblance of the map of Essex County, Mass., to this animal, after the redistricting.

If just happened to be their word of the day Wednesday, September 8, 2010. I am that behind on my emails. But good news is I only have 130 more to go through :)

Come recession and war, he has done his utmost to deliver all three. He has broken the bank and damaged the jobs machine to get them.

Under different circumstances, that dogged persistence might be a virtue. But the problems are getting worse, not better, and yet he won't adapt. His stubborn refusal to face squarely the nation's concerns has created a vacuum at home similar to the one abroad.

Our President is stuck in his ways, and obviously has no desire to learn how to do his job (or overcome the oh so obvious lack of skill that voters refused to see). Instead he spends his time playing basketball, coaching basketball, commenting on basketball, and taking vacation. Does he even remember that he is the President? Better yet, does he even care?

My brother informed me of some lovely news Saturday evening and I was waiting until today to look it up in the local newspapers. I actually forgot until TooConservative reminded me of it. How I forgot, I do not know.

Sometimes you have gotta wonder what people are thinking. Never should the following words and phrases need to be used in the same story: alcohol, underage drinker, volunteer firefighters, joy ride, firetruck, and police officers

But let me state that I am thankful for all fire and rescue people that take their job seriously, and I know there are a lot of them. They do so much good for their communities. I am especially thankful for those that do it on a volunteer basis.

But nobody is perfect. Some people are less perfect than others. And some are just idiots.

Book Review - How To Save America: A Tactical Guide for Practical Patriots

Have you ever wanted to be politically active but unsure what to do? Or are you already involved but want to do more and unsure what else you could do? Wonder no more. A friend of mine recently published a book entitled How to Save America: A Tactical Guide for Practical Patriots and it is essentially a guideline on what you can do to get involved and how you can have an impact.

A.E. Duzett focuses on the how the political stakes are getting higher. The leftist movement is forcing itself in our lives more and more and our liberty and freedoms are being endangered. There has been no better time for each of us to be politically active and no one has an excuse for not getting involved. It is up to each of us to save our country.

With this as the focus she talks about all the different ways we can get involved. She gives ideas on how to get involved locally, nationally, and on college campuses. There are ideas for every type of person including those who are introverted and those who are extroverted. But she also motivates the readers to step out of their boxes and do more.

I really like this book because it is basically like a short easy-to-read text book (or guide if that makes you less fearful) on how to be involved in politics and how to make a difference. It is something we have been in need of for a very long time. Too many people say that their opinions don't matter, or they don't know what to do. But there is no excuse now. The author tells you how to get involved, how to make your opinions matter, who can help you in your quest to make a difference, what other references are useful to use, and how to get others involved with you.

It does include some religious references which may be a turn off to those who are not religious, but the book has so many useful ideas in it that I would not pass the book up just because of that. As the book says, we need to put our differences aside in order to make a difference. Get the book anyways and get as much information from it as you can and then get to work. We have much to do.

I highly recommend this book and I believe it would be a very useful and cheap tool to pass around your local tea parties and other political groups. Click here to check it out on Amazon.

Mexico Gets a Place in Lawsuit?

Read This Article! I do not understand why we are allowing another country to take part in a lawsuit about border related issues. I also do not understand why Arizona is getting so much flack in the first place. The United States seems to be the only country that has trouble standing up for its borders. You enter any other country illegally and the instant they catch you, you are shipped out, put in jail, or killed. So why is it that fingers are being pointed at America? And why do we care so much about what people think, when the main finger being pointed at us is the same country the illegals are coming from? Of course Mexico doesn't want us to close our borders. Then the leaders would have more people in their own country to take care of and less of our money to take care of those people. For once, Mexico should do her own dirty work and stop dumping her problems on us.

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays of all time. It is not focused on gift giving or candy. It is simply focused on celebrating the U.S.A. I am so thankful to have been born in this country and for the freedoms I have. I am thankful for all those that serve to protect those freedoms and for the many sacrifices they and they families make. This includes those in the military and those that serve through public office. I am thankful for everyone who has given up numerous hours of their time to try and save this country. I am also very thankful for fireworks, but that's a subject for another time.

I urge everyone to never give up. Continue to educate yourself. Continue to form opinions. Continue to vote. Continue to get out there and protest everything you believe is wrong. Continue to be active in local governments. And remember to show how much you love this country everyday, not just today.

I use to be a more moderate person when it came to taxes. But as I have done more research and more thinking on the subject, my feelings have hardened a lot towards taxes. I do not believe raising taxes in an economically hard time is the right solution.

Speaking of hard times, did you see this. It made me laugh so hard. Speaking from personal experience, unemployment benefits does not make a person want to get a job, especially when there is the potential to make just as much, if not more, sitting on your bum all day long. And if unemployment worked correctly, the family should have just enough to pay for the necessities such a food, clothing, shelter, etc. Which means they should just be keeping others from loosing their jobs, not creating jobs. Creating jobs takes more wealth than that.

Crazy Anti Tea Party Protester

As my sister and I left the rally in D.C. we ran into a group of tea party protestors that were surrounding this anti tea party protestor. It had to be one of the funniest things I have ever witnessed. This kid knew nothing about what he was talking about. He claimed he was a socialist but couldn't even explain to us what it was and what the benefits of it are. I tried to shoot some footage of it but as it was my first attempt at using my camera to take a video, it came out horrible. I found this footage that is better but it is still often hard to hear what everybody is saying. Because of this problem, I was not going to post it until I remembered that this video has something else amazing in it. If you don't want to watch the whole thing and strain your ears to hear the debate, at least forward to about 2:00 when a few of the protestors were talking to an older man. And just listen to what he has to say about Cuba's health care. Oh and if you are wondering who the petite woman is beside the socialist boy, that's his mom.

Random Health Care Thought

My husband and I were discussing his brother the other day and came up with a scary conclusion about the future of America's health care. His brother, who is an eye doctor, said that he makes the money and will continue to make the money, even after Obama's health care bill is offically enacted, because he specializes in something that no insurance covers. This specialization being lazer eye surgery. Lazer eye surgery is often a blessing, but almost never medically necessary and thus is almost never covered by insurance companies.

This means that in the future there is going to be a influx of doctors that will specifically specialize in fields that are not covered by insurance companies so that they can make the big bucks that they may not be able to make under a government run medical system. This won't be good for the doctors that already specialize for there will be more options in their field, thus their prices may end up having to decrease (if the free market works correctly), but either way they will probably be able to make more money than if they went into some field that is covered by health insurance companies.

One saving grace may be that there will still be the option to have private health care, though if we are having to pay for someone elses too, the option for private health care may be eliminated for some people. The other saving grace may be that there are only so many medical fields not covered by insurance and I can imagine that some doctors will not be interested in specializing in those fields, no matter the money they could make.

Specialized doctors will always be able to make more money, but as the doctor's under Obama's health care bill make less and less money, the incentive to go into specialized fields like lazer eye surgery and plastic surgery will probably only increase.

Am I correct? Not correct? Do you have any thoughts on this? Is there something I am missing?

Included in each dozen roses is a card that reads, "Dear Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: Be encouraged, Americans stand with you. God bless you."

The cards concludes with the biblical verse, "The Lord builds up Jerusalem," from Psalm 147:2.

Obama's self-important rude nature is not a quality any American president should have. Nor is bowing to another countrie's leader. Does Obama ever get it right?

If you have not heard of Swagbucks or have just not joined yet, I highly recommend it. Swagbucks is one of the few ways to earn free things that I think actually works consistently. You can get swagbucks for searching, for promoting swagbucks, for shopping, and for trading in things. After you rack of the swagbucks, you can trade them in for prizes such as gift cards. I always use mine to get the Amazon gift cards as you can keep all the gift cards on your Amazon account and just keeping building them on top of each other until the day you decide to buy something. Some people have worked up to having hundreds of free dollars on their Amazon account to spend on themselves and for birthday and Christmas presents. They have other useful gift cards too such as Itunes and Starbucks.

There are many downfalls including that you can only redeem for 5 prizes a month (and no more than 2 a day), you have to wait until an established time every month to get your prize no matter when you redeem your points, and the search engine isn't the greatest. But you learn to work around the problems and take what you can get. I will soon be at my 6th 5$ gift cards and I am a very slow swagbucks person so if I can do it so can you.

I don't usually promote stuff like this on my political blog but I recommend it especially for people that like to buy political books as many on Amazon are selling for great prices and though you might be able to find it cheaper somewhere else, nothing beats free. John Adams

My husband and I are currently watching John Adams. If you have not yet seen it I highly recommend it. It is very well done, thought provoking, and emotional. John Adams was not perfect, nor were most of the citizens involved in the Revolutionary War. Their philosophies don't even align perfectly with what many of us may believe. But the love their felt for freedom, the sacrifices they made, and all the knowledge and wisdom that went into writing the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution is unforgettable.

The only really sad part about John Adams is that it makes you realize even more what Obama and his minions are doing to this country.

But needless to say, you should try and get a hold of a copy of John Adams as soon as possible and watch it. Because though it may be a million hours long, it will not be a waste of your time.

Yay Christmas Is Back

The Loudoun County board voted 7 yes to 1 no, with one supervisor absent (though I am 99.9 percent sure this guy would have voted yes), to overrule the committees decision. So Leesburg's Courthouse lawn can be used to celebrate Christmas after all.

What a great example of citizens banning together to force a change of policy. People emailed, spoke at meetings, and signed petitions. People started finding out about the problem over Thanksgiving break, yet they were still on the ball. Some even put up Christmas lights early just to show their support for Christmas. What a great county. Thankfully, they had it a bit easy as they had many government officials on their side, and one extremely irate supervisor.

Overall, it was the most perfect scenario. A committee made a crappy decision, people got mad, banned together to show their disapproval, a proposal was written and presented, and the decision was overruled. All within a week (well the committee made the decision more than a week ago but didn't announce it until last week)! It's too bad this situation doesn't happen more often. It's too bad committees even have to make stupid decisions. And worse of all, it's too bad that there are people who hate Christmas and other holidays.

The whole separating church and state is being taken to an extreme all too often. It's getting to the point where there is no freedom of religion, unless you keep it privately to yourself. This comes to mind because Loudoun County is now dealing with an issue that many counties and towns have dealt with before. The removal of Christmas and Hanukkah symbols from public property because they are religious symbols.

To be fair the committee did not claim separation of church and state when they made the decision. And because I don't really understand their reasoning and might not, as of yet, have heard the whole reasoning, I should not claim they are automatically wrong. But nonetheless, I know I will never agree with them and do believe some could have voted for the measure because they want to remove all signs of religion from public. But I digress there and will just state that from what I here I think many county officials and citizens do disagree with them and view the committees decision as wrong so hopefully it can be reversed.

Religion is a belief just as not believing in religion or a higher being is a belief. And it is our right and our freedom to express what we believe in. If those nonbelievers feel left out in December maybe they should come up with their own holiday or their own symbol that they can proudly display next to ours instead of always forcing us to take ours down. I am unsure if anybody has been converted based on seeing a Christmas tree so I am unsure of what they are worried about.

As for separation of church and state, the public should be able to use public grounds to express their beliefs. I do not think banning religious symbols was what the founding fathers had in mind when they decided to include that in our Constitution. I think they were thinking of Europe and how the church's often ran and heavily influenced the government. That is not how the system works in America so why are we taking that simple yet powerful phrase so far. Why are we so busy worrying about separation of church and state that freedom of religion is being ignored?

There had to be a better solution to this problem than the one that was taken. Lock her up, she will fall asleep eventually. Did they need to tase her and take her to a youth shelter? I could understand if she was a threat to anyone but it sure doesn't sound like she was. And whatever problem was causing her to act like that probably just got a thousand times worse.

Perhaps I will understand after I become a parent of a 10 year old...but probably not...I could never imagine doing that to someone I loved so much.

Race Card Once Again

Why can a week not go by without the race card being drawn? Why do people have respect for people who draw the race card? Because in my opinion, it points to an uneducated and ignorant mind who can't come up with a better argument.

I wanted to ignore this incident since I really have no respect for Jesse Jackson but alas I do have to point out, like everybody else, his idiotic quote:

“We even have blacks voting against the healthcare bill from Alabama,” Jackson said at a reception Wednesday night. “You can’t vote against healthcare and call yourself a black man.”

And being black has to do with healthcare why? And do blacks ever get tired of quotes like this because it really does make them look dependent and needy when in reality, they aren't. Or at least the blacks I know aren't. Maybe Jesse Jackson is.

Food Fight

I used to get in trouble all the time for throwing food, so I feel for these students. And I am not sure a food fight deserves jail time, though I wasn't there and if trays are being thrown that might be a different story. Either way, the next time this newspaper decides to report such a story, they should try and quote people with a little more intelligence. But in an effort not to be mean and make fun of these people, I will leave it at that and let you make your own conclusions. This article was crazy to me. I do not think I agree that unhealthy addictions to the internet deserve physical punishment. But then again this comes from an internet addict who is very obviously using the internet so she can blog . But on a more serious note, I don't even begin to understand how people feel its okay beating kids to death. Or how parents feel okay trying to get their kids to change their habits by using such measures. All I have to say is that I hope this law actually changes this practice in China and that it is not just words coming from someones mouth to make things seem okay.

An Election Just Happened but I am Thinking about Guns Instead and So Should You

My sister, who is doing a research/argumentative paper against gun control found this and I thought it was funny enough to share.

My favorites are:

These phrases," right of the people peaceably to assemble," "right of the people to be secure in their homes," "enumeration's herein of certain rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people," and "The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states respectively, and to the people," all refer to individuals, but "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" refers to the state.

Guns are so complex that special training is necessary to use them properly, and so simple to use that they make murder easy.

Ordinary people in the presence of guns turn into slaughtering butchers but revert to normal when the weapon is removed.

Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted.

The ACLU is good because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of the Constitution, and the NRA is bad, because it defends other parts of the Constitution.

Private citizens don't need a gun for self-protection because the police are there to protect them even though the Supreme Court says the police are not responsible for their protection.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO PEOPLE! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??

First and foremost: Someone please tell me what he did that deserves a Nobel Peace Prize? Did Obama invent something that changed the course of human enteraction and history, did he save lives somewhere along the way, did he save a country from destruction??? What did he do? The world looks no more peaceful to me today then it did before he got into office, nor can I point to once specific event in his life or action of his that deserves this prize.

Secondly, should I be happy just because an American won? Should I be sad just because South America won the Olympics? NO NO NO NO NO!!! Or at least thats what I think. For me, pride in this country comes from what it is. This country is, or was, a country about freedoms, freedom of religion, freedom to run your family the way you believe you should, freedom to get a job and earn money, freedom to act the way you want, freedom from oppression. I find pride in this country when it gives, when it goes out of its way to help other countries, when it really has no obligation too. This pride extends to when its individual citizens do the same. I find pride in our military, which is filled with many men and woman who put their lives on hold to defend this great nation. I find pride when we, through families, churches, and good schools, take the time to develop descent and knowledgable men and woman; when we defend morals and standards that have long been lost in other parts of the world. I find pride in many things.

I do not find pride in winning the olympics. The olympics are enjoyable and great. And yes, ill admit, when it is in the U.S. and we put on a great opening show, I feel a tab bit of pride. But do I feel a deep rooted pratriosim from winning it? No. I am just as happy when other countries win it to (if they deserve it). Do I find pride in this country when one of our citizens wins an award for something? I do when they have something grand to show for it. When they have given a big part of their life to a good cause and to giving to others, and when they are reverent and humble about it. But my pride isn't in the fact that they won something. Its more that I recognize the freedom, safety, family values, morals, etc. that are all present somewhere in this country, that have led to another great human being.

I DO NOT find pride in this country when one of its citizens wins an award, just because he is an American. No. I would be much happier if some citizen from another country, who truely gave, who truely did not expect anything in turn, received the award. I do not find pride in American Citizens receiving awards when they have nothing to show for it, when they did nothing, when they received it simply because they were Obama and Gore. Our country will no longer be a great nation if we allow this type of pride and selfishness to take over our thoughts. Just as the Nobel Peace Prize is no longer a great prize.

Abortion Alert

Now, BAC president William K. Thierfelder tells The Washington Times he would rather see the school shut down than violate its moral precepts.

"I hope it would never get this far but if it came down to it we would close the college before we ever provided that," he said.

Isn't there some way they can dismiss all employees who complained. Obviously, those employees are not living up to their religious standards and if they are a private school they should be able to set the standards of employment. Perhaps not. I am not that knowledgeable on the subject. Maybe the employees will stop complaining if the school decides it will shut down, as they will then not only be out of insurance, but also be out of a job.

This is about more than abortion. THIS IS ABOUT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. OUR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM!!! Since when has the government been allowed to turn us all in godless people. People who can't practice their religion the way they want, worship who they please, say what they believe is true. It makes me sick. Remember that scene in V for Vendetta where the guy gets killed for having the Kuran. Is our country ever going to come to that, except for in our case, with the Bible? I pray and hope that we will be able to change the course our country is going in, that we will be able to save our freedom, that people may be able to safely practice their religion and live their moral standards. And that after forcing doctors to perform abortions, and the promotion of universal health care, we may still have some good doctors left in this country.

I wish I had more time to discuss and study this article and this issue, as it brings back a lot memories of things I learned in college. Unfortunately, at the moment, I do not have time but wanted to share the article anyways. Maybe later when my books from college are unpacked again, and I have time to study the issue I will. As for now here are my thoughts:

I knew from the start Obama would have no idea what to do with the wars overseas. He had no experience in that field and that is one of the reasons this intrigues me so much. I do not know what would be a better option in the end, more men or just more focused attacks on the al Qaeda. But I feel that more men would be good, and doing both at the same time would be ideal (is it even possible?). Decreasing the amount of men would be the worst. I pray though that the White House is telling the truth when it say pulling it out is not an option. And I pray that Obama does not let public opinion stop him from doing what is necessary to win over there.

I agree with the article that some mistakes were made during Bush's term with the war. I liked Bush enough, but he was not perfect. I feel though, that we have not been and are not at a giving up point in Afganistan. And winning the war in Afganistan would probably be a big help with us in Iraq.

In defense of all presidents, fighting this type of war is new for our country, and it may be good to give any president room to make mistakes in this area. Fighting terrorists is not like fighting your average war against a country, nor are countries that have dealt with terrorists for many years that successful with it. But with that said, there are some mistakes that would not be forgivable, such as giving up and leaving.

I just hope Obama begins to realize that he can't do this on his own; that he needs the Generals, and the other military officials, by his side to help win in Afghanistan and Iraq. I hope his huge ego does not get in the way.

Well if anybody has any thoughts about this article, or has more intelligent knowledge and thoughts, please share. I would love more insight.

Roman Polanski

Many in Hollywood are stepping out in support of Roman Polanski. This boggles my mind. I am not sure when the film industry decided it has the right to decide who is or is not guilty. If a man admits he had sex with an underage girl, and fled the country, obviously he should be brought to justice on some level. The case does not close when you flee or when Hollywood decides it can't loose one of its directors. The quote from Whoopi Goldberg is my favorite,

I know it wasn't rape-rape. I think it was something else, but I don't believe it was rape-rape. He pled guilty to having sex with a minor and he went to jail, and when they let him out he said 'You know what, this guy's going to give me 100 years in jail. I'm not staying'. And that's why he left.

Need I say more about the illogical thinking of Hollywood. Would this act be okay if it was anybody else raped, or if it was any other person being accused? Probably not. But who really knows, if as she says, rape-rape is different than rape.

But this is exactly why our country is lacking in moral decency. We watch, drool over, and yearn for more of Hollywood. And they know that and try to take advantage of it by doing their best to persuade us that their views, their beliefs, their morality (or lack thereof) is the one and only way. That if we do not believe the way they do, we are evil, racist, or hateful. The same people who pretend to be for woman rights, or the rights of the poor, obviously have no sympathy for the rights of a young girl or the rights of a victim who was taken advantage of. They apparently believe a little too much in the phrase "time heals all wounds" or mistakes.

I agree with Joan Smith

Now the past has caught up with him, and Polanski is facing extradition and the prison sentence he deserves. His supporters urgently need to locate their moral compass and stop making excuses for an unrepentant sex attacker.

I'll admit up front, I only skimmed the article. Gore Vidal doesn't exactly excite me and on a normal basis I would never recommend this article. So I warn you now, don't expect to love most of what is in the article. But I wanted to point the few parts I did agree with, so much so I had to share.

Last year [Vidal] famously switched allegiance from Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama during the Democratic nomination process for president. Now, he reveals, he regrets his change of heart. How’s Obama doing? “Dreadfully. I was hopeful. He was the most intelligent person we’ve had in that position for a long time. But he’s inexperienced. He has a total inability to understand military matters.

“The only one I knew well was Kennedy, but he didn’t impress me as a good president. It’s like asking, ‘What do I think of my brother?’ It’s complicated. I’d known him all my life and I liked him to the end, but he wrecked his chances with the Bay of Pigs and Suez crises, and because everyone was so keen to elect Bobby once Jack had gone, lies started to be told about him — that he was the greatest and the King of Camelot.”

Obviously, this guy isn't as smart as he thinks he is if he just now figured out Obama is inexperienced. But hey, anybody that admits Kennedy's legacy is largely based on falsehoods, gets half a point in my book.

I Don't Understand

why people view disagreement with the president as racism. I am been trying to ignore this issue as it is just so lame to me, but this article about did it for me. Why is a sign, depicting the president in bad light, racism? Why is it racism to disagree with the president? What does the joker have to do with racism? And so yes Hitler may be a bit extreme but is not the political reference to form of government what we are getting at and how is that reference racism?

If there is one thing in this world that makes me mad, its the call of racism. Because there is legitimate racism going on in America and in the world, but its become easy to ignore it with all these immature and fake calls of racism going on. When will people stop using the term as a crutch and start standing up for themselves with legitimate arguments or perhaps realizing that maybe they are actually wrong. I almost feel sorry for their ignorance, except for I can't help getting mad instead.

Someone who feels that its actually racism, please please explain it to me. I DON'T GET IT!!!

On another health care front:

Don't let Obama scare you into supporting health care. I think this article did an okay job at explaining the lack of factually true stories in Obama's speeches. Our health care system isn't perfect, lets just admite that up front. Nothing can be perfect though, as long as its ran by humans. But I am perfectly sure that universal health care is not the answer, and Obama probably knows that we know that, which is why he is using these tales to gain support.

My former roommate and lovely friend, Allie (last name witheld for the moment for privacy sakes) took the opportunity to go to the protest in D.C. on Saturday. She has given me permission to repost what she wrote about it on facebook.

Yesterday I was privileged enough to take part in the making of history, as two million and more American taxpayers marched on Washington to let our voices be heard.

On the way home, my aunt and I stopped to talk to a police officer chilling on the outskirts of the protest. We asked how our protest had compared to others he'd seen in the past.

First, he told us, the police had been grossly underprepared for the magnitude of people who showed up. They had been told to prepare for around 2,000 people--not 2,000,000. Whoopsie.

But he said that the most amazing thing to him was the number of arrests: not a single person was arrested. He said he had never seen a protest so huge and so peaceful all at the same time.

The protest continued to amaze those at Vodkapundit, who reported that a police officer said, “I’ve been here 20 years and this is the largest crowd I’ve ever seen.”

Here is a link to calculations done based on people per square meter. Apparently, official calculations show at least 1.8 million people in attendance. This would make it the single largest gathering in the history of Washington, DC.

Bet you didn't hear that on the MSM.

One thing that also stood out to people how was how clean it was. Here is a picture from after Obama's inauguration (you can find other pictures by google-imaging "the mall after Obama's inauguration"):

As constitutionallyspeaking pointed out, these pictures ought to say a thousand words.

I know that in my own personal experience, I saw not one piece of litter on the ground whatsoever. I made a point to look, because at one point my husband accidentally dropped a wrapper of something, and when we both bent to pick it up, I decided that since I was already down, I might as well pick up whatever else was there--and there was nothing there. Or anywhere I could see.

Campaign for Liberty made the same observation, as did nicedeb and as did Gateway, my ultimate hero.

So, as an environmentally conscious kind of person, I was pleased at how it went.

I was fortunate enough to snatch up some "Don't Tread on Me" bumper stickers and a flag, which was amazing because everything for sale was going like hotcakes. I honestly searched for that dumb flag for hours--and all the nice yellow ones were gone so I had to settle for white. But it was still worth the search!

Everyone we met was courteous. We got to be friends with one lady who'd come up from Georgia; she stayed with us. Carl and I ran into our old mutual friend Marissa, which was beyond exciting. And I made a point to go talk to people who claimed to be doctors--unlike certain other totally fake doctors I've heard about, they were all 100% authentic. They had actual proof and it was a beautiful thing to see. Hooray honest people showing up to rallies.

And actually, even though we were there for hours and constantly running into zillions of people, I only heard one (1) curse word. I think this is amazing because i've never passed a leftist rally without my ears being assaulted. The particular guy who was cursing wasn't doing at anybody, either--I think it was just part of his vocabulary. Which, given the look of him, wouldn't surprise me. But overall, every person we interacted with was beyond polite.

This was really a rally to remember. I know I will. There is nothing more amazing than standing shoulder to shoulder with two million other like-minded people from across the Union, united in the goal of returning power to the people.

I hope you all decide to show up next time.

I probably will not have a chance to blog after today for the rest of the week so I wanted to say Happy Fourth of July. I love the Fourth of July. Not only for the fireworks, but also for the patriotism and love that is shown on this day. In fact, its unfortunate that this type of patriotism can not be shown year round. Wouldn't that be a great thing. It would definitely strengthen and improve a lot of things in our country.

Anyways, we may not like what is happening to our country but get out and celebrate anyways because this nation is still great. Take this day to remember what we have to fight for and protect the rest of this year and the years to come. Be thankful for the freedom we have left. Be kind to all and thank those who serve this country continual. But don't forget to enjoy the holiday, the fun to be had, and your family.

He may have been evil in 24, an extremest who thought he was helping America, but in real life Voight seems to have his head on more straight. Its not too often where you hear about the Hollywood Conservatives nor is it too often they speak out. So good for him. I respect that.

I was very happy to hear that Gary Sinise is also a Conservative Republican. I was never sure though I did know he did a lot for our soldiers. I do like this dude and NCIS : New York.

I once saw the documentar Rated "R" (Republicans in Hollywood). It was pretty good. My favorite part was when Patricia Heaton tells of the time she was having dinner with a few Hollywood friends. The subject of politics came up and she mentioned that she voted for George W. Bush. According to her account the chatter turned to awkward silence. She stated "You'd think I'd crapped in the middle of the table."

I really do love trying to figure out who in Hollywood is Republican. I know I have missed many so who in Hollywood do you know is Republican?

I had the opportunity the other night to go to a great lecture by Mathew Staver of the Liberty Council sponsored by the LCRC. I was unsure of what to expect from the lecture but am beyond grateful that I took the time to go. What I learned willonly benefit me in the future. The lecture was titled "The Role of Faith in Public Life." It kind of all centralized around the following quote of Reagan's "The Founding Fathers believed that faith in God was the key to our being a good people and America's being a great nation." Basically Mathew spoke about the faith of the founding fathers and its relationship to the founding and success of this great nation. Not only did he inform us of many facts and information that I never knew, but his words struck a cord with me and has made me want to do more research.

Before I get into what he told us, let me tell you quickly about the Liberty Council. It is a nonprofit litigation, education, and policy organization. It is dedicated to advancing religious freedom and the sanctity of family and human life. They have been involved in the front lines of many of the recent issues including gay marriage and partial birth abortion. Think of them as the ACLU's number one enemy. Now you can see why their director was chosen to speak to us about faith in public life. They are fighting for faiths good name against a government that wants to get rid of all religion in this nation.

Speaking of which did you know Obama signed a proclamation that makes this month GLBT month. But hes the same person that would not honor the national day of prayer. And this only one of the many reasons why faith in public life was an important topic to speak on.

Now moving onto what I learned from this lecture as I view it to be of the utmost importance today. Most, if not all, of those who signed the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence had a strong faith in something and a majority of them had a strong faith rooted in God and Christianity (doctrinal, not denominational). They were church goers, bible readers, head of bible groups, and head of churches. They were our founding fathers. They were men who knew what could make this country great. They set up a Republic, a form of government that had never before succeeded for very long periods of time. They were laughed at around the world, but those who laughed stopped laughing and started questioning when they saw that this new republic was succeeding. The answer was that they had rooted this new republic in something greater than the intelligence of a human being, they had rooted it in religion, God, and morality.

The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.

This great nation was not set up so people could be regulated and run by the government. The government was just to watch over a group of people who were living their lives based on morality and their belief in a higher being. Laws were really morals written down on paper. Sure not everybody believed in God the same way but this morality that came from Christianity became rooted in the culture through education and social life. The importance of God in the founding of this nation and its expansion can clearly be seen in the fact that God made it into the constitution of all 50 states, and are still in them.

Why Christianity though? Was it only because many were Christian? Yes and no. They felt that the way of life that Christians were suppose to be leading was best for this new republic. Christians believe in God, believe that they have standards they have to live up to or face consequences in this life or after. The key to this is that they have the choice to live as they want but all good Christians would seek to do that which God would want them to do. Now take for example, another strong religion at the time, the Muslims. Their religion was not rooted in choice per say. It was more about a way of life being forced on people, and not as much about choosing to live that way. The government at that time had already had run in with Muslims and knew that it was not to be the religion that would make this republic work.

Now what about the Separation of Church and State? This phrase can be tracked down to a letter written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802 to Danbury Baptists. He referred to the First Amendment as creating a "wall of separation" between church and state. It was picked up again in 1878 by the United States Supreme Court. The interesting part is that Jefferson only used this phrase once and it was referring to the national government. On a state level he never separated church from religion in the way that people believe in now when referring to this phrase. How could they completely separate church and state if they had based the success of this country on peoples morality? Could it be that they meant you could not have religion or the state run each other, not could the government withhold this freedom from anyone or regulate it, but that they still could interact?

I liked the part of the Danbury letter that says, "that the legitimate power of the civil government extends no further than to punish the man who works ill to his neighbors." Religious freedom was an inalienable right, not to be regulated by government. The government use was to enforce the laws, not to regulation religion. And please do not think that the Constitution includes the phrase "separation of church and state." It actually says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." They did not want their nation to become another England. They did not want a government run by a specific church and vise versa.

So what does this have to do with us? Religion has been getting attacked on all fronts. We are damned to hell by liberals for voting based on our religious beliefs. They claim we are immoral, racist, sexist, etc. We have to hide our religion, or it will be seen as forcing it on others. But we have to remember that those who attack us do not allow themselves to believe that this nation was set up by God fearing men. That this great nation was originally rooted in the basic morality of men. That as soon as religion is thrown out the door, morality forgotten, this nation, as it was set up, can no longer succeed. It can no longer be a Republic or a Democracy. "Morality" will become the whims of men. Someone declaring who is good, whose not, what is ruining society, whats not, when drugs are good, when they are not. There will be nothing and no one to answer too so the government will have to step in for that role. It is happening now, and will continue to occur. We have two choices. We can let it happen and pray that the second coming will occur soon or we stand up for ourselves, be loud, and declare that what they are doing goes against everything this nation was built on.

I read this article yesterday and found it interesting. I am glad that someone has decided that men need to stand up for themselves. Women should be equal but I feel that lately we have begun to forget he needs of men and ignored it when they have started falling behind in society. But what I can't believe is that there is so much attention to the formation of this group and that many of those that are wondering whats the use of this group are from feminist groups such as Feminist Majority. Will some women ever feel like they have received enough from society or will there always be this battle between men and women? I hate reverse discrimination but I will not go off on it today.

Why is it that we are hearing more and stories like this one? Is it because there are more incidences now or because they are finally being noticed by the media, even if it is just fox news that reported this one? It saddens me when people get punished for being patriotic but if you burn the flag or do any other form of anti US protesting, there is no punishment.

Not much to say about this article. Just typical freedom of speech related to second amendment rights trampling.

I Live In A Commonwealth. Do you?

This is a really random subject to blog about but my fiances brother asked me why Virginia considers itself a commonwealth and I could not answer the question. So I decided to research it and thought I could enlighten you as well.

The term commonwealth, dating back to the fifteenth century, literally meant "common well-being." Now the term is generally used to mean a "political community." There are 4 states that consider themselves "commonwealths." Namely Virginia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Kentucky. The type of communities that a commonwealth deals with in these instances are "a political unit founded in law by agreement of the people for the common good."

Basically commonwealths are commonwealths because they decided to be, not because there is any difference between it and a state (at least in modern times).

Below is a quick summary of why each specific state became a commonwealth, as far as I have found in my research. Feel free to add if you know anything else.

Virginia: In colonial times VA was known as the Colony and Dominion of Virginia. When the 13 colonies broke ties with the British Crown that name was no longer acceptable. When the first Constitution of Virginia was adopted, commonwealth was used to name the new form of government. More than likely they were referring back more than a 100 years previous when the puritans were not ruled by the crown.

Kentucky: Originally a part of VA and when it became the 15th state in the US, it continued to use the term

Massachusetts:Previous to 1780, on all documents the term state was used for Massachusetts. But in 1780, when the Massachusetts Constitution went into effect they became known as the "Commonwealth of Massachusetts." In the era leading up to that time, commonwealth was a popular term for a body of people constituting a state. John Adams added the term when framing the Constitution where it remained. The term had democratic overtones and there may have been some anti-monarchial sentiment in its usage.

Pennsylvania: As hard as I am trying I can't find a definite answer for this one but I assume it has something to do with their independence from Great Britain and the anti-monarchial sentiment when the Constitution was written.

A QUICKY NEWS UPDATED

SHOUT OUT TO VIRGINIA & LOUDOUN COUNTY PART 1

I tend to prefer politics on a national level over local level but I can can't ignore my roots, especially when local politics is in my blood. So this post is the first of many dedicated to Virginia and turning it into a Red State again.

The LCRC has had its ups and downs but much of the ick that was going on has been cleared. With a new, and may I saw very talented, leader it has once again turned into the great committee it can be. I am excited to be a part of it and hope that I allow my self to get more involved. We have a strong committee and have many great things on the agenda.

To help get Republicans elected RedStormPAC donates 100% of the contributions it receives for candidates to candidates. While I am a fan of voting for a candidate based on his/her actions and beliefs, and not voting straight ticket just because, we may not have any other choice this election. We dont want strong Democrats in office while Obama is there.

Great Britian is Filled with Great Problems

Great Britain seems to be having problems lately. For the first time since 1965, the lower house speaker was ousted thanks to an expense scandal and an angry public. Its nice to see that some people have sense over in Great Britain concerning politics.

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has banned Michael Savage from Britain. For some, this may seem like such a miniscule issue. Michael does not often travel to Great Britain so who cares if hes banned plus many people feel that he can get too extreme at times. I don't even often listen to him. BUT WAKE UP! It is a problem, whether you like the guy or not.

Straight up, Great Britain banned an American for his opinions. There is no evidence he has caused violence, that he is a terrorist, or a criminal, and hes banned. He was banned for no other reason than that someone disagreed with him. The UK does not have the same government structure as the United States of America, nor the same laws, but I would never suspect that they would stoop to something this low. They do not have the same level of freedom of speech as America does but they do not have a record either of banning people from the UK simply because they voiced an opinion.

Did you see the list of people that are allowed to stay in the UK? Obviously she isn't concerned about any danger her country may be in. Jacqui says "Coming to this country is a privilege. If you can't live by the rules that we live by, the standards and the values that we live by, we should exclude you." But she allows Dr Philip Nitschke in the country who clearly does not believe in specific laws that Great Britain uphold. I hope he remembers assisted suicide is illegal in the UK. I guess she meant that those who can't keep their mouths shut and have strong opinions can't be allowed in the country but if you kill someone, no problem, come on in.

A lot of people have been bringing up the issue of the first amendment in America. Some people don't get this as the UK does not follow our constitution so let me tell you what I think. America has stood as a beacon for freedom for a long time nor does it have a recent record of endorsing murder, violence, etc. If we did, we would probably be hearing about it from other countries as we are now about the abuse scandal. We definitely don't get slack for the level of freedom of speech in America. Savage lives in America and thus has the legal right to voice his opinions. Why ban a man for legally voicing his opinions in his own country unless there is evidence that he would break laws or cause harm to others in the UK if he traveled there? Even if you judged it by international laws and UN standards he is a-okay. And once again, whose worse to have in your country, Savage or a terrorist?

So what does this issue show and why is it so important? Great Britain is loosing its greatness and its citizens know it. They are becoming intolerant in the name of tolerance (sound familiar) and are allowing their government to be run by incompetent people. I wish I could find audio of the parliamentary debates I heard. It was clear that the right leaning parliament members knew what was happening in their country and knew that they had to stand up for Savage. I also had a British roommate, who though liberal, knew the her country was going down a dangerous path. Her concerns where a bit like this lady's concerns, though my roommates were voiced a few year later. The UK is becoming too politically correct, trying to open up to all the immigrants, trying to not offend anyone, but really just giving their country away. And now they are trying to keep out any that might offend those people.

My real concern is that America is for once not leading the UK but instead following it down this path. You may not care about Great Britain (unless you are from there of course) but you should care about the United States of America and you should care that we are going down that dangerous path too.

But there is good news, as this guy who clearly hates Savage has pointed out. How many people now watch Michael Savage because of all the attention he has been receiving, who otherwise would not have been knowledgeable of his existence? His views are finally touching many overseas. Maybe he should be thanking Jacqui for all the attention he has been receiving.

This article is a good starting point for what I want to discuss. The cost of liberal environmental policies. Those who push environmental regulation policies on the government and the people too often forget what the cost of their policy will have. My capstone class at BYU was taught by a very nice, older gentleman, whose only fault was that he was a liberal. During one particular debate a classmate told a story. In California (sorry I don't remember the specific area) many residents liked to try and prevent their houses from being burnt down so they cut down trees around their house. Some liberal policies were enacted and these residents could cut their trees down only so far from their house, definitely not as far as they would like. The reason was that there were some endangered birds living in the area so they did not want to ruin their habitate. Well a fire came and burnt all the houses down and come to find out the bird was not going extinct. It was just living south of the border. My teacher blew it off saying it was extreme example but I would like to disagree.

I have nothing against helping to protect nature. I love it and we should not completely destroy it nor should cruelty to animals be taken lightly. What I have a problem with is people who have more sympathy for animals than they do for another human being. And that is why I want to discuss liberal environmental policies.

To start off this short discussion,I want to ask whether the federal government enact environmental policies that clearly affect only a few states or should it be left up to the state? I personally believe it should be left up to the state. We elect our representatives and can prevent them from taking office again if they enact a ridiculous policy. State and local officials also know the cost and benefits of a specific policy better than a politician from another state who just wants to save the environment. Local officials are less likely to put the people second as the people's vote is how they get elected. This is only part of the solution to the problems discussed, as some states will still get screwed, but at least it keeps the federal government out of our lives and out of our pockets.

A more recent example of the effects of environmental policy which I originally heard about on the radio is another one dealing with water. Fresno California is having a war between environmentalist and local farmers. Farmers are being forced out of business because someone wants to save some fish. And we wonder why California is going bankrupt. It all started in 1993 when the Delta Smelt was listed as a threatened species under the Federal Endangered Species act. Then in 2007 a California Federal Judge imposed limits on water pumps supplying the Central Valley with water for agricultural and residential purposes. They are loosing upwards of 40,000 jobs from this incident alone, all thanks to a Federal Act. Please note the quote from Lloyd Carter. The first time I heard it I about died I was so shocked. For someone to have the gal to say that no matter what their opinion on illegal immigration is, just blows me away. And conservatives are called racist? Plus, whether someone is illegal or not has nothing to do with this water situation and from what I hear the fish aren't exactly indigenous to the area either. Some Republican's very recently released this on the matter.

Next, this whole cap and trade scheme that is being discussed by the feds has been around for a while and the results never looked good. I have only heard negative reviews of the proposed cap-trade scheme. The fact that there is a high chance of a negative effect, job loss with little environmental gain, means they need to be careful about what they are doing before they go down this road. But hey look there is something, even if its minuscule, that we can do. Or we can just laugh.

Now for global warming (read the editorial too). I am still not convinced it is not a scheme. Especially when Al Gore is at the head of it. I will bet you that in the next twenty years we will see a "global cooling" again. Whatever the liberals can do to cause mass hysteria and scare people into voting for their policies.

I will never understand how people can become such extreme environmentalists, how people can choose to make the life of an animal more comfortable than the life of another human (Any good PETA stories anyone? They always make me cringe). But it is not my job to figure them out. I do feel that some of these people are not extreme environmentalists, do not care for animals more, but have been duped into believing that they need to and have to help by enacting policies that will end up hurting the economy and hurting the citizens of the United States of America. And then there are the politicians that use environmental policy as a means of power and votes. But though they all have different reasons for their actions, their actions are all the same and we need to do what we can to prevent them from taking office and being successful. We are having an economic crisis now, and the more and more I learn about policies like these, I am not surprised. For once the Federal Government needs to stop wasting our money on environmental policies like those discussed above and let the people choose.

One last random but interesting thing: here is an example of why we need privatization in some things.

I Think I Am Getting Sick

This investigation the Liberals are seeking into abuse of prisoners/terrorists is not fairing well for them. They not only voting in a president who is reversing his decisions but Nancy Pelosi can't get her story straight. In fact, she kind of reminds me of a criminal who goes to the police to help them solve a crime in order to throw them off the scent. Now shes getting stuck in her lies. Please read the comments at the end of this article. Now gag with me!!! As for President Obama, I just want to say that the fact that he needed senior military officials to tell him what should seem obvious, is ridiculous.

Obama is also busy trying to find money to pay for his spending. I have been a-okay with taxing alcohol and cigarettes up till now, mainly because I sadly just don't care. I don't drink nor do I smoke. But I am thinking about it now, and want to study it more, now that they want to increase the tax on junk food. Yes junk food is not healthy and is the cause of a lot of America's weight issues, but how can they just pick out a certain type of food and increase its tax? How can someone tax me more because I, like your average American, want to eat a bag of chips? Junk food is expensive enough. Don't get me wrong. I try to eat healthy and I am all about a healthy America, but I am not sure a junk food tax is the way to accomplish that. In the end I want freedom, I want lower taxes, I want my junk food. Taking Chance

I had the opportunity to watch Taking Chance last night. I was very impressed by the movie. For those of you who don't know Taking Chance was an HBO presentation about the a real life incident. In 2004 Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, a volunteer military escort officer, accompanied the body of 19-year-old Marine Chance Phelps back to Dubois Wyoming.

In its simplicity, Taking Chance, is a great example of how every soldier should be treated, even in death. Every American would benefit from watching this movie as we often fail to show soldiers the respect they deserve. The close attention that is paid to detail, to the emotions and actions of all that came in contact with the body, is what makes this movie so personal.

I learned not only about all the work that is put into transporting a dead soldier, but I felt an increased need to do something for them. I felt pain for his loved ones, sorrow that he died, but love for this country and for all who fight for its freedom. I feel that in a sense, they paid more respect to Chance by paying less attention to his story of bravery (which is great within itself) and paying more attention to how he was brought home. He was quietly brave and its how they kept it in this movie. I know for a fact that many, if not most, soldiers are not treated the way he was and that is saddening.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of Taking Chance, and not only sitting down and watching it, but sharing it with your family, friends, and neighbors. I also hope we will all pay more attention to these brave men and women and show them the respect they all deserve.

My Biggest Pet Peeve

I should probably be talking about something else that is more important to this country but I can't ignore this feeling of annoyance that is growing increasingly larger in me as I read the news. My biggest pet peeve with politics right now is how nobody seems to be able to take a taste of their own medicine and how the rules don't matter as long as your not in the hot seat. I have seen this a tiny bit on the Conservatives side but not even close to the extent I have seen it on the Liberals side. They had the White House Correspondence Dinner the other night and during it Wanda Sykes took more than enough jabs at Rush Limbaugh. Mind you, I know each side tends to call the other side terrorists and many of us may secretly hope someone on the other side dies, but Wanda's comments are the epitome of tasteless for such an event, telling the audience that she hopes his kidneys fail. It sounded more like a political statement with a few jokes thrown in rather than a comedy act. But I can still get past the fact that she has a rather lame sense of humor but what I cant get past is the fact that I know no Conservative could get away with a joke like that. We would be called racists, hateful...racist again because that's their favorite jab...you name it we would be call it. Its not okay for us to disagree, to make jokes, to say we hope someone dies, but its a-okay for the liberals. Why this double standard? Do they just have some complex thats rampant on the Liberals side that's causing this double standard? Let me name two more example, though there are a slew of them, where I have seen this double standard. Its okay to call Bush a terrorist but not okay to call Obama a terrorist. It makes you racist (as does disagreeing with Acorn so watch out you racist people). Its okay that Obama stutters all the time and can't give a speech without a teleprompter but its not okay when Bush made mistakes in his speech. Bush must have been lacking brain cells but Obama, well hes still cool...cause you dont want to be called a racist.

I say it should either be free game for all or no game at all.

And on a side note, I call for a new word to use when talking about past racism. The Liberals have hijacked the word and used it in such nonsensical ways I don't even feel like I can use the word anymore. If disagreeing with Acorn is racism what was it when blacks couldn't vote??

And talking about wishing people were dead, I have a new favorite bumber sticker. It says "If You Must Burn Our Flag, Wrap Yourself In It First." Flag burning...just another pet peeve of mine. I hope those people don't celebrate the 4th of July. They don't deserve that holiday. Just saying....

I am finally busy for once so blogging may not happen as much as I would like but I will try my best to keep it up.

Last week I was so bored I clicked through the Obama's first 100 days in pictures. I almost had to remind myself that I do not like this guy, it was so memorizing for some reason. A celebrity star he is. So I like this a lot better. Obama can't fool you now. Should we be expecting a list of 200 mistakes in a 100 days? Perhaps more than 200 as making mistakes become habitual? Anyways here is another article to make one disenchanted with Obama, though for many of us its harder not to be. Also, how is Obama going to let something like this happen? Perhaps Obama shared with Ahmadinejad the secret behind his succesful campaing to get on the Iranian leaders good side.

Some may say that we are giving Obama too hard of a time, but that happens when one promises more than can be delivered. In most jobs, he would probably be fired by now.

Great Leader

This country seems to be lacking something recently and that is A Great Leader. I read the following this weekend and it just kind of slapped me across the face. This country has an obsession with self help books on how to lead and be successful. But I feel this says more in less words than those could ever say.

I respect all men, and it is from disrespect for none that I say there are no great leaders in the world today. In fact, greatness itself is laughed to scorn. You should not be great today — you should sink yourself into the herd, you should not be distinguished from the crowd, you should simply be one of the many.

The commanding voice is lacking. The voice which speaks little, but which when it speaks, speaks with compelling moral authority — this kind of voice is not congenial to this age. The age flattens and levels down every distinction into drab uniformity. Respect for the high, the noble, the great, the rare, the specimen that appears once every hundred or every thousand years, is gone. Respect at all is gone! If you ask whom and what people do respect, the answer is literally nobody and nothing. This is simply an unrespecting age — it is the age of utter mediocrity. To become a leader today, even a mediocre leader, is a most uphill struggle. You are constantly and in every way and from every side pulled down. One wonders who of those living today will be remembered a thousand years from now — the way we remember with such profound respect Plato, and Aristotle, and Christ, and Paul, and Augustine, and Aquinas.

If you believe in prayer, my friends, and I know you do, then pray that God sends great leaders, especially great leaders of the spirit.

A great leader suffers in a hundred different ways, and keeps his suffering to himself.

We are in need of great leaders. People who forget about themselves, people who do not believe they are owed anything, people who represent what they believe in, and who love others. Let us not only pray for great leaders, but lets try to become one ourselves.

Well if Obama does not divide the nation the UN will. Now the President is obligated to prosecute Bush administrative lawyers. Lets not forget though that this is the same association that allowed Iran's President Ahmadinejad to speak. Did they forget about all the evidence of abuses in Iran. Maybe they should read this again.

My original plan was to write a whole posting about torture and the UN but because the UN posting is taking me a while I've decided to just post about Torture for today so that you can see the article above. The UN posting will come soon enough. I know I already did a posting just a few days ago about torture, but this has a bit more information.

I have a hard time dealing with abuses against humans. The sex trade is not only saddening but disgustingly immoral. Massacres are horrific. Torture, in almost every case, not okay. But when one thinks about torture what do they think about? Probably broken bones, lots of blood, or perhaps whipping. There are plenty of methods. My point is that we think of methods that cause pain and extreme discomfort, perhaps even death or disfigurement. Out of all the methods that the US has used, I would say waterboarding may be the one form of "torture" to be worried about. The one that would cause the most discomfort and pain. This memo explains the Office of Legal Councils stance they took on the torture that was occurring and I think its worth reading. It is one of the memos that has been making a big uproar but I bet most people have not even read it. Though it has defined torture narrowly, I think it makes many legit points. If used carefully and for short periods of time and not done often, waterboarding would be considered the lesser evil of torture methods. People have their differences of opinion on whether waterboarding is torture. I believe, unless used carefully, and in a certain fashion (some forms of waterboarding are not pretty), it is a form of torture. But I do not believe that some of the other methods used, such as holding their head still, or slapping them once or twice, can be considered torture. If so, we should probably look at our jail systems in America because I am sure there are worse things going on in them every day.

Now with that out of the way, is this "torture" used by the US okay? As I said, I am not a fan of torturing people usually. But times have changed also. We are fighting a new type of enemy. One with no boundaries and one with new methods of fighting (computer warfare anyone? sounds kind of fun to me). Torture may be our only chance in saving the lives of thousands of people. It may be our only way to get any information out of terrorists that believe they are fighting for a great cause which they will be greatly honored for. Do I think we should use methods that in most cases cause pain, mental problems, extreme discomfort? No, I do not.

Using torture is definitely walking a fine line. But the benefits of using it has outweighed the negatives. One terrorist in discomfort and perhaps a bit of pain vs thousands of deaths. Not a hard choice. And its not like we asked for those terrorist to try and destroy our country.

Obama, if you feel its bad and immoral of us, then put a stop to it. If we get hit, it will be on your head but at least you did what you felt was right. Just don't prosecute those who were simply trying to help save American lives. And don't try to take the higher moral ground by releasing important documents. Its not working. Oh and if we do get it, don't even try to blame it on Bush. I know your already thinking of trying that.

Anyways here are a few last thoughts to end Friday on (TGIF right?). If there's so much room left open to debate about whether something is torture or not, its probably not worth prosecuting over. Just saying...And we all know that the UN would never do anything to the US if we don't prosecute Bush's people. They are an association of threats and no action. Just look at the UN's history. Obama probably hasn't so can someone please point that out to him. Plus with all the money we pay to the UN why don't we own that sucker yet?

When Obama ran for office saying that he believed in a bipartisan government I am not positive he knew exactly what he was talking about. Prosecuting officials from the previous administration is not trying to be bipartisan. And how can he choose who to prosecute or not? Couldn't Democrats be considered accessories to the "crime" because they knew what was happening? Is it worth pursuing and making such a scene when there are bigger and more important things happening? I think my dad was correct when he said it is possible that this country will have another civil war. We could have another one and it would be about exactly the same thing as it was before, Freedom. Freedom that each and everyone of us deserves. Freedom to express our views, freedom to do what is right, freedom from fear that someone will crucify you because you said something they don't believe in. I almost feel like I am living in an episode of 24 where someone is fighting for this country and all it stands for and someone else to trying to prosecute him for it. But even with the threat of prosecution on him, Jack continued to do what was right. Continued to save this country. And I hope all those involved have the same gusts and nerve.

If everything does get worse, if people continued to get crucified for simply stating their beliefs, if socialism continues to get closer, if our freedoms are continue to get challenged, I pray that we would have the guts to stand up and start a war. I pray that we would not chicken out and let this country fall to ruins. I hope we never just give up on this country.

I Feel Homesick Without Jericho

I finally looked into an event that's occurring this weekend. I almost wish I had spent the money and gone to this event. Its called Welcome Home to Jericho Charity Event. First let me say that Jericho was an amazing television show. Probably one of my favorite all time television shows. Unfortunately its run time did not last very long but within its short life it managed to not only make me feel like I belonged in the show but accurately represented and taught what being a patriot is and what freedom and love of ones country is really about. If only we had more shows like that on television. It might actually be worth watching.

Though it seems the Welcome Home Jericho event was originally more of a reunion for fans and those who associated with the show, they took their idea one step further and made it into a charity event. How simple yet amazing. The following video is pretty good and at the end it gives a quick synopsis of the charity portion of the event.

Operation Home Front is about support; support to soldiers and their families. It was started on a small scale by some military family members. But then it grew and I am sure what it has done and can do is far beyond the wildest dreams of the creators of this organization. I highly recommend checking this charity out. They even have a page that lists specific needs of soldiers that need to taken care of soon. I know the economy is tight but there has never been a better time to do an act of service.

I think I will try to put up information about legit charities up every one in a while. Could be the best use of space yet.

I love 24 this season. Its amazing. Originally I was really excited to have Garofalo on 24. I didn't know much about her but she was hilarious in a Lifetime movie I had seen. Now I am so sick of her that I just wish she would die, or perhaps just stick to Lifetime. Anyways this article pretty much sums up what I have been thinking for the last few days. This has to be the dumbest video I have ever seen. It makes me want to stop watching every single show any of these celebrities are in, including Heroes. Hollywood has to have the highest percentage of just pure ignorant people. People who only care about that they believe and feel is right. People who only care about freedom and opinions as long as it agrees with everything they believe. People who obviously have no morals or principles in their life. To go after a girl that was forced to answer a question, a question that probably should not have been asked in the first place. To to respond to it with so much immaturity. They make me sick!

I was in good spirits coming to work today and was tempted to celebrate Earth Day just because I love nature. But that is what Hollywood will be doing today and I don't plan to follow in their footsteps ever so no Earth Day Today!!!

It looks like Obama's apologies and over eagerness for friendship with the world dictators has not changed anything. I am not exactly why he had such high expectations that somehow within the time Bush left office and he entered, the dictators somehow became good people and good leaders. I guess it cant hurt to try. Unfortunately I see this becoming the pattern in Obama's foreign relationships.

If this surprises you than perhaps you should start watching 24. Jack teaches some good lessons about torture in it. Now torture is not something to take lightly. It it something that should not be retorted to just because its there. It can and does harm people and our country is thankfully above using many methods of torture. But if it between allowing a terrorist plot to succeed or using a form of torture that does not have a high chance permanently harming someone, than I say go with the torture. How else are you going to get info out of people who are convinced they are doing Alla's work and will get blessed for all they do. Also, while in school I went to a speech made by a guy who I believe used to interrogate prisoners in Iraq. I wish I knew his name or more about him but it was about 4 years ago and my memory can be horrible at times. But what I do remember is how he told us that compared to every other country, including the UK, we treated our prisoners far better. In fact we treated them so well that we were not allowed to simply hood them while transporting them. Yes America should stand on a high moral ground (especially if we decide not to be friends with those lovely Dictators) but that may not mean we should not use any methods of torture at all. War sucks. Torture sucks. But allowing our country to be destroyed and trampled on is even worse.

After the tea parties were bashed so often by the leftist media and by news reporters on CNN I have decided to not read CNN. Now it may be shocking that I ever read CNN in the first place but I read it solely because it was fast, simple, and the website was very organized. Now I am trying to totally switch over to other news sources but sometimes I catch myself reading CNN by accident. Its almost like a bad dream. Somehow I just always end up at CNN. So if anybody has any good ideas other than Drudge Report please share. I like having multiple sources and I need help to be successful at this goal.
