Best Political Speech of 2011

The LCRC convention was yesterday and it was a very successful convention. We will have a very strong ticket in November and there are some great candidates this year. 

Besides finding out who won the primary nominations, the best part was EW Jackson's speech. Nobody knows much about him, he kind of came out of nowhere. But his speech touched everybody in a way nobody elses speech did. I am now very interested in him and will be following his campaign from here on out (I believe he is running for Senate.). 

A part of his speech was recorded, thankfully, and posted on YouTube. I am unsure if anybody captured  my favorite parts, but at least you can get a taste of his genius speech. 

A Coyboy Named Bud

I received the following email from my brother. This joke has been floating the net for a while but I think it's the first time I have encountered it. Enjoy!

A cowboy named Bud was overseeing his herd in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced toward him out of a cloud of dust. 

The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, RayBan sunglasses and YSL tie, leaned out the window and asked the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, Will you give me a calf?"


Bud looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure, Why not?"

The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his Cingular RAZR V3 cell phone, and surfs to a NASApage on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.

The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg , Germany .

Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored.

He then accesses an MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response.

Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer, turns to the cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves."

"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves," says Bud.

He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on with amusement as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.

Then Bud says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my calf?"

The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"

"You're an aide in the Obama Administration", says Bud.

"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"

"No guessing required." answered the cowboy. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You used millions of dollars worth of equipment trying to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you don't know a thing about how working people make a living - or about cows, for that matter. This is a herd of sheep.

Now give me back my dog.

Another Dirty Move By The Dems?

I am going to start writing a bit more about local level politics in my area because it interests me a bit and because it is going to be a crazy election year for the county I am in.

For the past while, the board has been dealing with redistricting. The county is growing extremely fast and some districts were getting too big. From the beginning everybody knew this would be a "fun" issue and that it has the potential to get dirty.

A couple nights ago the board finally chose a plan. The problem is that the plan doesn't make sense. Before I go on, I will let the Chairman of the Board explain:


Dear Friends,

As you may be aware, the Board of Supervisors adopted a redistricting plan during our business meeting yesterday. The plan adopted was Miller 5 that was slightly amended. You may see the unofficial version of this map here. Also posted is the map of the election boundaries that the new map will replace. Voting for the new districts were Burton, Kurtz, Buckley, McGimsey and Burk.

I did not support this plan as it was put together and pushed by one of Loudoun’s political parties. The eastern districts were gerrymandered and make absolutely no sense. We setup a process that invited all to participate and many citizens came together and formed a map that geographically did a much better job of keeping communities together and was much more logical. I want to thank those citizens for all their efforts. So much more intelligent was the citizen’s plan that even Stevens Miller, the supervisor that sponsored the so called Miller 5 plan, attempted to remove his name from it, but his motioned failed 4-5. Miller then put forth the question of the afternoon to those Supervisors pushing the Miller 5 plan, asking, “If you are so proud of this plan, then why don’t you put your name on it?”

This plan was put into place by Democrats and one lone Independent who clearly did not have the needs of the County in mind. Maybe they know their chances of being reelected are slim at this time and are probably just trying to go down in some weird twisted glory. Or maybe they know something I don't, and Gerrymandering* the districts will actually work. At a time when every county, city, and state should be trying to save money, they put in a plan that will force the electoral board to spend more money maning more voting locations. And that doesn't even include all the time that will be spend dealing with this mess.

I can't wait for the day when the majority of the Board knows that doing what is right for the county is more important than special interests. Not sure that day will ever come. At the very least, just have pitty on us a little bit and don't raise taxes again. I don't care if our kids need more electronic white boards in their classes. NO MORE TAX INCREASES.

*In case you don't know what Gerrymandering means the definition from Dictionary.com is as follows: The dividing of a state, county, etc., into election districts so as to give one political party a majority in many districts while concentrating the voting strength of the other party into as few districts as possible.

Gerrymander is named after E. Gerry (governor of Massachusetts, whose party redistricted the state in 1812) + (sala)mander, from the fancied resemblance of the map of Essex County, Mass., to this animal, after the redistricting.

The link above leads to an interesting article on the NYPOST. My favorite part of the article states:

As shocking as the China lament is, it's not surprising. The desire to sidestep messy reality is the thread that runs through his presidency, starting with the campaign.

As the economy melted down in the fall of 2008 and in the days after he took office, he never changed goals. He promised a health-care takeover, "investments" in education, and a commitment to weaning America off oil and coal.

Come recession and war, he has done his utmost to deliver all three. He has broken the bank and damaged the jobs machine to get them.

Under different circumstances, that dogged persistence might be a virtue. But the problems are getting worse, not better, and yet he won't adapt. His stubborn refusal to face squarely the nation's concerns has created a vacuum at home similar to the one abroad.

Our President is stuck in his ways, and obviously has no desire to learn how to do his job (or overcome the oh so obvious lack of skill that voters refused to see). Instead he spends his time playing basketball, coaching basketball, commenting on basketball, and taking vacation. Does he even remember that he is the President? Better yet, does he even care?

My brother informed me of some lovely news Saturday evening and I was waiting until today to look it up in the local newspapers. I actually forgot until TooConservative reminded me of it. How I forgot, I do not know.

Sometimes you have gotta wonder what people are thinking. Never should the following words and phrases need to be used in the same story: alcohol, underage drinker, volunteer firefighters, joy ride, firetruck, and police officers

But let me state that I am thankful for all fire and rescue people that take their job seriously, and I know there are a lot of them. They do so much good for their communities. I am especially thankful for those that do it on a volunteer basis.

But nobody is perfect. Some people are less perfect than others. And some are just idiots.

This is why we need to step up and start holding our government accountable for how they spend our money. If we have to budget and save to live, so should our government.

I ran into this article on Aol as I was checking my email, and found it rather interesting. I think Obama has his work cut out for him as his ability to do the job is coming into question by more than just Conservatives. I am not sure if I trust that Democrats finally get it, but it's good to see that Obama is not getting a free pass from all criticism on their end.

Book Review - How To Save America: A Tactical Guide for Practical Patriots

Have you ever wanted to be politically active but unsure what to do? Or are you already involved but want to do more and unsure what else you could do? Wonder no more. A friend of mine recently published a book entitled How to Save America: A Tactical Guide for Practical Patriots and it is essentially a guideline on what you can do to get involved and how you can have an impact.

A.E. Duzett focuses on the how the political stakes are getting higher. The leftist movement is forcing itself in our lives more and more and our liberty and freedoms are being endangered. There has been no better time for each of us to be politically active and no one has an excuse for not getting involved. It is up to each of us to save our country.

With this as the focus she talks about all the different ways we can get involved. She gives ideas on how to get involved locally, nationally, and on college campuses. There are ideas for every type of person including those who are introverted and those who are extroverted. But she also motivates the readers to step out of their boxes and do more.

I really like this book because it is basically like a short easy-to-read text book (or guide if that makes you less fearful) on how to be involved in politics and how to make a difference. It is something we have been in need of for a very long time. Too many people say that their opinions don't matter, or they don't know what to do. But there is no excuse now. The author tells you how to get involved, how to make your opinions matter, who can help you in your quest to make a difference, what other references are useful to use, and how to get others involved with you.

It does include some religious references which may be a turn off to those who are not religious, but the book has so many useful ideas in it that I would not pass the book up just because of that. As the book says, we need to put our differences aside in order to make a difference. Get the book anyways and get as much information from it as you can and then get to work. We have much to do.

I highly recommend this book and I believe it would be a very useful and cheap tool to pass around your local tea parties and other political groups. Click here to check it out on Amazon.

Mexico Gets a Place in Lawsuit?

Read This Article! I do not understand why we are allowing another country to take part in a lawsuit about border related issues. I also do not understand why Arizona is getting so much flack in the first place. The United States seems to be the only country that has trouble standing up for its borders. You enter any other country illegally and the instant they catch you, you are shipped out, put in jail, or killed. So why is it that fingers are being pointed at America? And why do we care so much about what people think, when the main finger being pointed at us is the same country the illegals are coming from? Of course Mexico doesn't want us to close our borders. Then the leaders would have more people in their own country to take care of and less of our money to take care of those people. For once, Mexico should do her own dirty work and stop dumping her problems on us.

Happy Fourth Of July!

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays of all time. It is not focused on gift giving or candy. It is simply focused on celebrating the U.S.A. I am so thankful to have been born in this country and for the freedoms I have. I am thankful for all those that serve to protect those freedoms and for the many sacrifices they and they families make. This includes those in the military and those that serve through public office. I am thankful for everyone who has given up numerous hours of their time to try and save this country. I am also very thankful for fireworks, but that's a subject for another time.

I urge everyone to never give up. Continue to educate yourself. Continue to form opinions. Continue to vote. Continue to get out there and protest everything you believe is wrong. Continue to be active in local governments. And remember to show how much you love this country everyday, not just today.

I use to be a more moderate person when it came to taxes. But as I have done more research and more thinking on the subject, my feelings have hardened a lot towards taxes. I do not believe raising taxes in an economically hard time is the right solution.

Speaking of hard times, did you see this. It made me laugh so hard. Speaking from personal experience, unemployment benefits does not make a person want to get a job, especially when there is the potential to make just as much, if not more, sitting on your bum all day long. And if unemployment worked correctly, the family should have just enough to pay for the necessities such a food, clothing, shelter, etc. Which means they should just be keeping others from loosing their jobs, not creating jobs. Creating jobs takes more wealth than that.

An understanding of history is important for any politically minded person and I have finally taken it to heart and pushed myself to read more non-fiction books. My favorite so far has been Seven Miracles That Saved America: Why They Matter and Why We Should Have Hope. I like to post what I am reading on my personal blog and thus posted my review there. Crazy Anti Tea Party Protester

As my sister and I left the rally in D.C. we ran into a group of tea party protestors that were surrounding this anti tea party protestor. It had to be one of the funniest things I have ever witnessed. This kid knew nothing about what he was talking about. He claimed he was a socialist but couldn't even explain to us what it was and what the benefits of it are. I tried to shoot some footage of it but as it was my first attempt at using my camera to take a video, it came out horrible. I found this footage that is better but it is still often hard to hear what everybody is saying. Because of this problem, I was not going to post it until I remembered that this video has something else amazing in it. If you don't want to watch the whole thing and strain your ears to hear the debate, at least forward to about 2:00 when a few of the protestors were talking to an older man. And just listen to what he has to say about Cuba's health care. Oh and if you are wondering who the petite woman is beside the socialist boy, that's his mom.

Random Health Care Thought

My husband and I were discussing his brother the other day and came up with a scary conclusion about the future of America's health care. His brother, who is an eye doctor, said that he makes the money and will continue to make the money, even after Obama's health care bill is offically enacted, because he specializes in something that no insurance covers. This specialization being lazer eye surgery. Lazer eye surgery is often a blessing, but almost never medically necessary and thus is almost never covered by insurance companies.

This means that in the future there is going to be a influx of doctors that will specifically specialize in fields that are not covered by insurance companies so that they can make the big bucks that they may not be able to make under a government run medical system. This won't be good for the doctors that already specialize for there will be more options in their field, thus their prices may end up having to decrease (if the free market works correctly), but either way they will probably be able to make more money than if they went into some field that is covered by health insurance companies.

One saving grace may be that there will still be the option to have private health care, though if we are having to pay for someone elses too, the option for private health care may be eliminated for some people. The other saving grace may be that there are only so many medical fields not covered by insurance and I can imagine that some doctors will not be interested in specializing in those fields, no matter the money they could make.

Specialized doctors will always be able to make more money, but as the doctor's under Obama's health care bill make less and less money, the incentive to go into specialized fields like lazer eye surgery and plastic surgery will probably only increase.

Am I correct? Not correct? Do you have any thoughts on this? Is there something I am missing?
